Top Bodybuilding Training Principles

Successful bodybuilding training is dependent on several factors and among these would be finding the right gym, developing the right training programme and designing the diet and supplement intake regime to make the most of these.  Bodybuilding requires that you train your body as heavily as it allows you and to completely exhaust all muscle groups in order to stimulate them to grow.  The intensity of the workout is extremely important, as is maintaining a steady routine for six to eight weeks at a time.

Knowledge is Power

It is important to learn about bodybuilding training and gather all the knowledge that will help you understand the logic and science behind your training programme and supplements.  The different parts of your anatomy and body determine your bodybuilding workout's structure and there are several gender- and age-related factors to consider as well.  Not all muscle fibres are alike, which is why different parts of the body have to be exercised at different intensities and for different periods.

Persistence is Key

Bodybuilding training is very hard work and some days, you will require all your willpower to stick to your programme; however, it will all be worth it in the end, and as long as you know what you are working towards, your goals will help motivate you.  While it is good and well to settle into a regular routine with your workout programme, you should not continue with the same programme for longer than eight weeks, lest your body gets too accustomed to that specific workout.

After about eight weeks, you can take a short break from your bodybuilding training and resuming with a fresh routine brings the necessary change to stimulate your muscles anew and avoid the tedium of predictability.  Keeping track of your progress is also a very important motivator, so document your training carefully so that you are always aware of your progress the closer you get to realising your goals.

The Typical 6-Day Bodybuilding Training Programme

As we have mentioned, your routine will change every eight weeks, so no two people's programmes are likely to be identical, but here is a typical example of a 6-day training programme that covers all the muscle groups.  Remember that the seventh day is a rest day.

Training Schedule

Throughout my bodybuilding career I would say a big challenge for me was to prove that conditioning rules and not size.

I train 5 to 6 days per week. I prefer to train 1 muscle group per day and I totally exhaust that group with 4 - 5 exercises.
